I’m back again, this time with the April 2nd Grade Morning Bins! As the year has progressed, these morning bins have covered review for so many 2nd grade standards. Also, they have been FUN! It’s always my hope to give you engaging activities meet your students’ needs and your teaching needs.

Each month, you will have access to 21 NEW activities that cover the skills listed above! Certainly, these will get your kids EXCITED about morning routines! Furthermore, you will warm up those brains and start the day with engaging and purposeful activities!

Let’s take a look at each of the April 2nd Grade Morning Bins in action!

Morning Bin #1: Vocabulary

Students will read the vocabulary words, sort them into groups, and explain why they sorted them the way they did.

Morning Bin #2: Word Use

Students will read the sentence and decide which picture matches the meaning of the underlined homophone.

Morning Bin #3: Phonemic Awareness & Phonics

Students will read the word and decide which letter is silent. Then they will sort it on the mat.

Morning Bin #4: Writing Conventions

Students will read the words on the clouds and make the contraction.

Morning Bin #5: Spelling Conventions

Students will decide if the /oi/ in the word is spelled with oi or oy.

Morning Bin #6: Text

Students will read the poem and write about what the poem was about, how it made them feel and which rhyming words were found.

Morning Bin #7: Sentences & Paragraphs

Students will read the paragraph and find 3 of the following mistakes: capitalization, commas and spelling.

Morning Bin #8: Parts of Speech

Students will read the sentence and decide which reflexive pronoun should be used to complete the sentence.

Morning Bin #9: Writing

Students will read a sentence and rewrite it with additional details to make the sentence more interesting.

Morning Bin #10: Logic & Critical Thinking

Students will read a list of words, decide what the words have in common, and think of another word that fits.

Morning Bin #11: Add & Subtract

Students read a problem and solve the problem to check if the card is true or false.

Morning Bin #12: Fluency

Students will solve the problems to find the correct sums to make a path from start to finish.

Morning Bin #13: Multiplication Foundations

Students will read the word problem, draw dots to divide the items and write how many are in each group.

Morning Bin #14: Place Value

Students will write a number to complete the comparison sentence to make it true.

Morning Bin #15: Counting & Skip Counting within 1000

Students will read the word problem and skip count to find the value of the nickels or dimes.

Morning Bin #16: Measurement & Estimation

Students will measure each item in inches and centimeters and compare the measurements.

Morning Bin #17: Time & Money

Morning Bin #18: Data & Graphing

Students will roll 2 dice, add the numbers and record the result on the line plot twenty times.

Morning Bin #19: Shapes & Fractions

Students will color the fractions and write <, > or = to compare the fractions.

Morning Bin #20: Critical Thinking

Students will read the riddle and use math to solve.

Morning Bin #21: Social & Emotional

Students will read the dialog and think of a suggestion they could give to help.
