Seattle Kids Weekend Events: May 28-31

A long weekend means lots to do with the kids. Whether you’re heading out on a Memorial Day road trip, cozying up in a nearby cabin or enjoying a small BBQ in the backyard with friends, family activities abound. We’re looking forward to two re-openings—one at a favorite farm fun park, the other at a local museum. Add the Northwest Folklife Festival’s 50th anniversary into the mix, and you’ve got your weekend planned. Here’s how to make the most of this three-day weekend!

50th Annual Northwest Folklife Festival
It’s the Northwest Folklife Festival’s 50th anniversary and you’re invited to celebrate! While we may not be able to gather at City Center, this year’s virtual program will pay homage to the milestone of 50 years of stories, songs and traditions of the Pacific Northwest. Families will have a chance to see over 120 performances by local artists. Be sure to tune into the Family Fun Channel for on-demand and live events you can enjoy from home. Fri.-Mon. Event details.

Guided Nature Walk
To celebrate the return of their guided tours at Seward Park, the Seward Park Audubon Center is offering them for free Memorial Day weekend. Walks will be offered May 29 & 30, from 12:30-2 p.m. and from 3-4:30 p.m. Topics will include native plants, geology and trees. Take your pick and get your tickets soon for this popular event. Advance registration required. Sat. & Sun. Event details.

Start your day off with a fun-filled food adventure at FrogLegs. Top it off with a dessert that’s as fun to make as it is to eat… s’more cupcakes! Advance registration required. Mon. Event details.

Open Gym Drop In
Let the kids get their play on at Emerald City Gymnastics on Fridays. Kids ages 8 and under can play on the equipment, explore the gym and burn off lots of energy during this open gym drop-in. Reservations required. Fri. Event details.

Family Paddle at Enatai Beach
Spend your Memorial Day exploring the shores of Enatai Beach when you rent kayaks with the kids from the REI Boathouse. Tandems, singles and SUPs are available for rent throughout the day. Mon. Event details.

Theo Chocolate Pop-Up
It’s Broken Bar Day at the Theo Chocolate flagship store and you don’t want to miss out. Not every chocolate bar makes it through the Chocolate Factory in one piece, but that doesn’t make them any less delicious. They’ve packaged up a few flavors of these less than perfect bars into 1 lb. bags at an extra special price. Come grab yours at the outdoor set up, while supplies last. Sun. Event details
