10 Favorites: Open Storage Ideas to Steal from Hotels
Lately we’ve noticed a change in hotel storage solutions: Thanks to peg rails, pegboards, and wardrobe racks, guest-room amenities and guests’ belongings no longer have to be hidden behind closets. Here are 10 of our favorite hotel rooms with exposed storage.
Peg Rails Above: The Alex Hotel in Perth, Australia offers its guests open storage via simple hooks and a bench. Above: Room 4.75 at the Jennings Hotel in Oregon has a wraparound peg rail to hold hotel accessories as well as guests’ clothing. Above: Wall-to-wall peg rails take the place of closets at the Moxy Hotel in NYC. The pegs are used for hanging not only furniture and accessories but also clothes (from leather and wood hangers). Pegboards Above: The Dog Fish Inn in Delaware displays guest-room amenities from a large wood pegboard. Above: As of late, we’ve been seeing birch plywood pegboards hung all over the house. But this is the first time we’ve seen pegs applied to the upper reaches of a room at the Hobo Hotel in Stockholm.Wardrobe Racks Above: The Coachman Hotel in Lake Tahoe has a plywood valet corner with a sink that separates the sleeping space from the toilet and shower.
