Upgrade Your Rig With These RV Headboard Ideas

Are you looking for a quick way to spruce up your bedroom space? Try out some of these lightweight and functional RV headboard ideas. There are several different style headboards to choose from, ranging from ones you can do on your own or purchase directly.

Lights

A lighted headboard made of lightweight material is a great way to decorate your bedroom. You not only create a headboard space, but you can turn the lights on and off as needed to light up the space, read, or go to sleep. These battery-powered fairy lights are a popular and affordable option that you can use even while off-grid.

Nature

How much do you really love nature? Try bringing the outside in with this fake grass idea. Take it a step further by attaching fake hanging plants, flowers, and other outdoor greenery.

Exotic

Put up simple netting like this one from Amazon. It will keep your space cozy, but it is also functional at the same time. Pull the netting around your entire bed to keep out mosquitoes and other flying pests if your location lends itself to those insects.

Creative

Are you creative yourself? Put up some painter’s tape in your preferred shape or design and paint directly onto the wall behind your bed. Use one color to make the space look larger, or try lighter colors to lighten up the space. No weight added here!

Open view

Make your bedroom look larger than it really is. Find photo realistic outdoor scenes looking out through large windows. Staying in a winter area but don’t prefer it? Put up a beautiful green forest scene and transport yourself.

Natural

Go with a natural looking theme. Buy a premade bamboo headboard, or put together a lightweight frame and weave your own rope design between the frames.

Peel-and-stick

Look for peel-and-stick designs on Amazon. You can cut them the size you want and also choose between an almost unlimited supply of photos, designs, and more.

Picture frame

Hang a lightweight framed family picture or a photo from your travels. If you are going for a theme, choose one that represents your hobby, collections, or makes you want to take a relaxing nap.

Mirrors

Find a set of thin mirrors. Organize and hang them on the wall. This is a great way to add dimension to your bedroom and make it appear larger than it really is.

Pillows

Purchase a long pillow to lay across the back. This gives you a decorative headboard but also a great place to sit in bed and read. You can even hang a bar across the back wall and hang individual pillows across the back for a different look.

Functional

Pegboard isn’t just for tools. Use different colors of pegboard if you want. Nice thing is you can rearrange it every so often in a different pattern or with new items. It is also very handy for keeping items close like glasses.

Chalkboard

How about a chalkboard headboard? Purchase some chalkboard paint and paint any headboard sized board. Sketch your own designs on it. Use color chalk if you want. Just be sure to place the designs away from your pillows!

Hobby reading

Wondering what to do with all those old paperbacks? Or, if you don’t have any, purchase them cheap at a thrift store. Get a very thin headboard sized board and glue them down (open, closed, or just the covers).

Macramé

You can’t ever go wrong with macramé. Purchase your own string, multi-colored if you want. Learn simple macramé knots and create your own. There are lots of free patterns online.
